Calculate the disegration energy when isotopeU mass pq.u decays to isotopeTh pq.u with the emission of an alpha particle. As always masses are for neutral atoms. Mass of an alpha particle: pq.u.

Solution:
The decay products have a total mass of m_mathrmB m_mathrmTh + m_alpha pq.u. The difference to uranium is Delta m m_mathrmU - m_mathrmB pq.u. Now we can calculate the disegration energy it is according to Einsteins famous formula E Delta m c^ pq.MeV.
