Determine the direction of the magnetic force acting on the particle electron proton or neutron in each of the situations a to f. center includegraphicswidth.textwidth#image_path:forcdirections# center If there is no force acting on the particle explain why not.

Solution:
For situations a b d and f the solution is shown in the figure below. They can be found using the right-hand rule proton or the left-hand rule electron. center includegraphicswidth.textwidth#image_path:forcdirection-solutions# center For the particles in c and e there is no force. A neutron is a neutral particle and therefore it does not experience a force in a magnetic field. The proton in e moves directly against the magnetic field lines. Since sinpi the force has zero magnitude.
