Exercise:
isotopeCo emits upgamma-rays with an energy of pqkeV. If a pqkg person swallows pqkBq isotopeCo what would be the dose rate Gy/day averaged over the whole body? Ase that % of the upgamma-ray energy is deposited in the body.

Solution:
Each upgamma-ray deposits % of its energy in the body i.e. pqkeV. If the source's activity is pqkBq the energy deposited per second is E_ pqkeV pqBq pq.J pqs^- pq.J/s. In a whole day the energy deposited is E E_ t pq.J/s pqs pq.J. The absrobed dose is therefore D fracEm fracpq.Jpqkg pq.Gy. The dose rate per day is pq.upmu Gy.
